Quality Assurance
As the UK’s largest Dental Laboratory group, with 12 strategically located Dental Labs, we are committed to providing you with a quality product to meet both you and your patients needs.
All of our laboratories are accredited to DAMAS which is an independent quality system for the dental laboratory industry.
What is DAMAS?
DAMAS: Dental Appliance Manufacturers Audit Scheme is a quality management system specifically introduced for our industry and provides traceability throughout the whole manufacturing process.
We are audited annually to ensure that we continue to meet the high standards required.
Accreditation demonstrates that all of our laboratories
- Meet the requirements of the Medical Devices Directive (MDD) and the Medical Devices Regulations (MDR)
- Have a fully documented system for the manufacture of dental appliances
- Use tried and tested materials which help protect the health of patients
- Are equipped to meet the needs of both the NHS and the private dental market
- Value the skills of our employees
- Care about the service that we provide
DAMAS is supported by many partners in the industry including the British Dental Association, the General Dental Practitioners Association, Dental Protection, the Department of Health, the British Dental Health Association, the British Dental Trade Association and Denplan Ltd.
So what does this mean to you – The Customer?
Importantly you can be confident that we adhere to EU regulations for the manufacture of dental appliances and adhere to all standards set by the MDD (Medical Devices Directive).
We can provide you with all relevant documentation for your CQC audit on request.
Following DAMAS procedures and guidelines results in fewer remakes resulting in less chair time for your patients, reducing your costs and saving you time – the most crucial resource of all.
Why is this so important?
In March 2010 new regulations came into force that mean we are all required to comply with the Medical Devices Directorate (MDD). If a patient requests a statement from you asking for details on where the dental appliance was manufactured you are now required to provide a statement of manufacture. At 1st Dental Laboratories we supply this statement with every single appliance we manufacture.
